Westfield Stratford City
One of the largest urban regeneration projects ever undertaken in Europe.
Do you like big numbers, big ideas, and big opportunities? Try these on for size: 1.9 million square feet of retail and leisure space, 1.1 million square feet of office space, two new hotels and new homes and community spaces on a site just 2 hours away from Paris. You can also add in 18,000 permanent new jobs for the area.
Westfield Stratford City is a new lifestyle destination for East London. It offers flagship M&S, Waitrose and John Lewis stores, a 17-screen all-digital Vue Cinema, a 24hour Aspers Casino and a host of innovative and prestigious international brands, boutiques and restaurants. It is attracting hundreds of thousands of shoppers to Stratford every week, and will attract all kinds of businesses to the new office quarter, TIQ Stratford City, which will begin construction in 2013.
Westfield Stratford City is the gateway to the Olympic Park with 70% of spectators expected to pass through the development en route to the Park. The site is also adjacent to the Athletes’ Village which will be home to 17,000 athletes and officials during the Olympics and Paralympics. As the planned social and educational infrastructure evolves in years to come, Stratford City will become a whole new vibrant fully-serviced 21st century East End community.
Westfield Stratford City has impeccable green credentials: a highly efficient combined Cooling and Heating Power Plant (providing 75% of its energy); carbon emissions 25% lower than the current benchmarks, rising to 50% by 2020 and 80% by 2050; and sustainable site-based supply and drainage systems cutting residential water consumption by 30% and commercial consumption by 20%.
Located directly beside the Stratford mainline and underground station, and next to the new Stratford International station, Stratford City – the biggest development of its kind anywhere in Europe – sits at the very heart of Stratford’s plan to re-shape the residential and commercial map of the capital.
